You have a psychedelic experience coming up. How you prepare shapes it.

Most attention in this field goes to the experience itself. In practice, the days leading up to it often set the frame for what follows. That part is usually within your control.

Maybe you are looking forward to your upcoming psychedelic experience. Maybe you feel unsure, anxious, or a little overwhelmed. That is more common than people admit, and it is not a sign that something is wrong. It is a sign you care about doing this thoughtfully.

Preparation is practical work: supporting the body, clarifying intention, and attending to the environment. The goal is steadiness, not certainty. If you are seeking a structured approach, I have outlined a free five-day plan that covers the basics without being overwhelmingly complex.

A Five-Day Framework for Psychedelic Preparation

Cover of the 5 Day Countdown guide: Your Simple Guide to Preparing for a Legal Psychedelic Experience, by Peter H. Addy, Ph.D.
A structured plan, broken into manageable steps:
  • Day 5: Support your body.
  • Day 4: Clarify your intention.
  • Day 3: Practice letting go.
  • Day 2: Create a sense of safety.
  • Day 1: Clear your space and mind.
This is not a complicated protocol. By the end you will have a clearer intention, tools to stay grounded if things feel intense, and a simple plan for feeling safe and supported. It does not promise control or certainty. Steadiness is a more realistic goal.

If you want to go deeper than five days

The guide gives you a plan you can use on your own. If you want more depth, the Psychedelic Journey Preparation Mastery Bundle walks through the same groundwork in full: crafting a clear intention, practicing surrender, and working with your breath. It is preparation you do at your own pace, before your experience. The free guide is a real starting point on its own, not a teaser, and you do not need the bundle to use it.

Not control. Not certainty.

But something more useful: steadiness.
